Presenter Jason Galeon Join Sequence VFX Supervisor Jason Galeon as he shares an exclusive insight into the making of the epic final instalment of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3. In a project that introduced old enemies, gigantic spaceships and explosive battles, Jason will share how the team designed and constructed the most complex spaceship model in Wētā FX history.
Much of the film’s action is centered in and around Are te, the ruby red spaceship measuring 4 kilometers wide. The spaceship provided an array of sub-environments to stage important story beats, including the glorious 150-second-long fight sequence inside the ship’s spaceport.
Constructed in a highly modular and art-directable manner, Jason will provide an overview of the singular modelling approach that made it possible to design the spaceship for use in wide outer space master shots, right through to detailed close-ups on counter-earth.
