Getting On The Same Page with the High Concept Formula

The High Concept Formula is a simple, collaborative, accessible and visible way to understand what a game is from the player’s perspective. It presents a game, quest, level, scene or conversation in a simple table form that can be read at a glance, discussed in detail and quickly iterated upon. Used by Swords to clarify the player perspective on Totem Teller, and foundational to the individual story designs of Anytown Garage Sale Monsters, it’s now used by studios and games courses internationally as part of the Forest Paths Method of Narrative Design.
