Building and training machine learning agents with Unity

Building and training machine learning agents with Unity

August 19, 2022 from 10:00 am to 10:30 am

Speaker: Paris Buttfield-Addison

Talk Description

Unity is a powerful environment for building games. But it’s also great for building artificial intelligence and machine learning environments, or creating genuine AI for your video games.

This session will unpack Unity for Machine Learning (ML). We’ll step through how machine learning works, from first principles, and unpack it by showing you the construction of a training environment for a ML-powered “agent”, live, during the session. We’ll train the agent, watch it learn, and we’ll learn how it learned. Create prototypes for real-world robots or self-driving cars to test them with, or “just” build even more fiendish AI for yours games.

We’ll learn the basics of machine learning (no prior experience, or maths, needed, I promise!) and look at how your Unity and game development skills can be transferred to a whole new field. Machine learning is fun and accessible in a game engine, and it makes a great showcase for your skills. Learn it here.

Talk Takeaways

Attendees will learn how to use Unity for real “artificial intelligence” with machine learning, and how this can be applied to games, simulations, and beyond. They’ll also learn the basics of machine learning.
