Laura Emel Yilmaz is a director & art director for animation, motion design, and games, specialising in 2D animation and visual narrative design. She has collaborated with many top animation and motion design studios in her former home of Los Angeles, including as an art and animation director at Buck Design LA, where her work has been recognized at the ADC Awards, A-List Hollywood Awards, Telly Awards, and was shortlisted at the Clio Awards. Her short films have screened at top experimental film and animation festivals around the world, including Animafest Zagreb, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Seattle International Film Festival (Spirit Award), and Black Maria Film Festival (Best of Fest), as well as garnering multiple Vimeo Staff Picks. She is an alumna of the Sundance Institute’s New Frontier Story Lab and the Swedish indie games accelerator program Stugan, and frequently serves on the Visual Art Jury for the prestigious GDC Independent Games Festival awards. Laura is now a proud Wellingtonian alongside her loving husband, adorable son, and two ungrateful cats.
